Unfortunately, the similarities are rather superficial: Bald, wore glasses, and had a fondness for sex and drugs, and despite the fact that both have acolytes amongst counter cultural types in America, this is the first time I have ever heard them refered to in the same forum.

nothing wrong with tangenital connections between foucault & thompson. if anything, that's what public forums like this are for.

perhaps we can take the Foucault-Centric approach and speculate how Thompson has been influenced by Mr. F (consciously or unconsciously).

anything that makes Foucault current =)

Does anyone have any evidence of influence? Has anyone made a stronger connection than the fact that both were "bald, wore glasses, liked sex and drugs?"

          Oh sorry....yeah hunter's a hard read....
but was brilliant in person.......was a cohort
of you can't go home again tom. Hunter
introduced me to Tennessee Williams, without me having
to ask. Tennessee knew Derrida, who was foucault's
rebellious student. And they all hung out at the University
of Chicago, or at the Art Institute.

The last time I saw Hunter he bragged about having
shot at the South Park boys when they came to seek the guru.
Hunter lived on top of a colorado mountain. said he had a
better shot from there. Personally I like the South Park guys,
and Jon Stewart and Louis Black.....

Martha Stewart got her own satellite station yesterday.
With Rosie and Al that makes three.
          Foucault liked the number three.
