Re: the truth/power of HIV AIDS
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 3:16 PMi did. and i think it's an offensive perversion of foucault's ideas and doubly offensive when such a great man died of the disease himself. -

Re: the truth/power of HIV AIDS
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 5:18 PMSo what if Foucault died of aids, Freddy Mercury did and Rock also, no big deal. What is a big deal is that I am infected too, and have swallowed abacavir with happy jogging people on the package, every dose aI took. Not to mension that abacavir is a main cause of heart diseases...happy jogging, two strokes here...
Foucault was saying that people turn every phenomenon into a murdering institution, there is no aids health care, there is aids institution. Bringing meds to africa is nice, what do you want to swallow them with? With water? Or do you just want to sell even to low profids? Just being retorical here...
Getting aids is and was not an accident, since 1982 we knew exactly what and why, I don't think Foucauld got a bug unwillingly. Unpowering the enemy is surrender, if I read Foucault correctly. Aids is no tragedy, it's a way of dying, fst or slow it's up to us.
What is your way to die? And do you want to die IN or out an institution? -

Re: the truth/power of HIV AIDS
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 2:28 PMmatthew,
you dont understand foucault's ideas, and you didn't understand my post.
foucault is said to have died of AIDS by those people who are imbricated in truth/power. AIDS is a semantic distinction.
there is nothing offensive about what i wrote. no where in my post does it say that there is no AIDS, and that people have not suffered and died. the idea (and mind you, it is an idea) that "HIV does not cause AIDS" suggests only what it says, nothing else.
alll i am doing, like foucault, and others, is putting forth alternatives to the flat earth world view. or rather, calling attention to an alternative that is already out there.
i expect that, despite what i have written here, you will need to cling to your ire, and slit hairs about what i have said, or something like that, in order to save face.
to question what the scientific medical establishment puts forth as "truth" is **exactly** what foucault was about. -

Re: the truth/power of HIV AIDS
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 11:01 PMI think Foucault would attach a very different meaning to AIDS than that of the dominant culture. And I think he would expect everyone to resist the "knowledge" of AIDS that is produced by the medical field, media and government .
That's how I read Foucault anyway ....
